6in Staghorn Fern
You'll usually find this Fern mounted on a piece of wood, but you can also pot them.
While young staghorn ferns can live in pots, mature plants would need to be mounted to a board or hung in a hanging basket. Just like air plants, staghorn ferns are epiphytic plants, which means that they grow on other plants or trees in their natural growing environments. This fern gets its Staghorn name because they resemble the antlers of deer or moose. This plant is literally Living Art.
CARE
Caring for the Staghorn Fern, can be tricky, but once you establish a routine, its pretty easy! Native to the tropics, this plant needs bright, indirect or diffused light to thrive, although they must be protected from the harsh rays of direct sun.
When it comes time for watering your Staghorn, you must water thoroughly until the plant's roots are fully saturated. In between watering, misting your Staghorn Fern is encouraged. Mist the entire plant, focusing on the underside of the antler fronds and the shield fronds.
Knowing when to water the staghorn fern is another piece of the puzzle. More humidity = less watering. More light or heat = more watering. Less light or heat = less watering. DO NOT OVER WATER THIS PLANT!
